eJourn is pretty stable for your use; at this point I'm pretty confident that the format is forever (ie, 10 years) easily readable.

NOTE: Version 0.4.beta1 is just as it's called, a beta. It's feature complete for what was intended for the release but its reliability and the safety of your data are in more danger than a usual release. So, backup your journal before using it, and don't worry; if you downgrade you won't be able to view your journal files until you upgrade to a newer release; but they'll still be fine if you don't overwrite them!
As I stated, 0.4.beta1 starts version 3 of the file format. It is incompatible with old versions of the software (you end up losing your subject, and if you had encryption it won't decrypt right). So, backup your journal before using it. The change is that subjects are now encrypted when encryption is on.
If you do use 0.4.beta1 it's important that you tell me how it's gone for you; that includes reporting bugs, problems, things you don't like, and things that worked well. So, if it works, I'd like to know so I can rename it 0.4.0!
What's new in 0.4.beta1? Support for non-english characters, more search, and encrypted subjects amongst many under-the-hood changes. See the CHANGELOG for more info. Thanks. The download is on down a bit :).
An autopackage will be available with the full release. I wanna keep this beta for the brave.

0.4.beta2 fixes some issues with random crashes.

If you have any problems with this release, please file a bug report on the Bugs page.
